Big Brown certainly showed what Brown can do. He became the first horse since 1915 to win the Derby in only his fourth career start. Big Brown gave Hall of Fame jockey, Kent Desormeaux, his third victory in America's greatest horse race as he strode to a convincing, 4-3/4 length win. When he came through the last quarter-mile, the heavy favorite exploded to the lead while covering 1-1/4 miles in 2:01.82. He also became the first winner to break from the No. 20 post since 1929.
